The project was developed in cooperation between the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT and the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen as part of the "Science Year 2020/21 - Bio-economy" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
It provided an easy-to-understand and vivid introduction to bio-economy topics. In workshops, discussions and exhibitions, participants and experts demonstrated that the bioeconomy has become an integral part of our lives. Questions such as „What does sauerkraut have to do with microorganisms?“ or „What are the advantages and disadvantagesof genetic engineering for plants and consumers?“ were discussed. Participants learnt about fermentation and the work that microbes do.
As a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT, my tasks consisted of researching, collecting the information in mind maps or tables and writing informationtexts. I also helped with exhibitions, workshops and debates.
